Computer Weekly has run a news item indicating that we may see further developments on the Universal Service Obligation, (or is it a Commitment?). Under the previous Labour Government the USC with a 2Meg target was due to be up and running by 2012, but in July the new Con/Dem alliance announced a delay to 2015. DSL research demonstrates 700meg DSL Service

A prototype of 700meg DSL has been demonstrated by Huawei in Hong Kong. The company have shown a prototype of the new technology that boosts broadband speeds to much higher speeds by using bonding technology to connect four phone lines together. Broadband promised to unite the world with super-fast data delivery - but in South Africa it seems the web is still no faster than a humble pigeon.
